Weston, Missouri
My first visit to Weston was in 2017. I drove up to have dinner across from the Pirtle Winery. Since it was dinner time, most of the shops had closed already. I had heard about how unique they were so it was disappointing to only look through the windows.
That was my first and only visit until December 2021. I had no idea that Tuesday evening would be my first of countless trips to a place that would become home for me in every sense of the word.
I quickly recognized the small town charm and quintessential shops and wineries I had heard so much about. However, what was more deeply impressed upon me was the goodness of the people. Month after month, I was greeted by the same wonderful faces. It didn’t take long for me to imagine a project that would feature the people of this sweet town through storytelling and photography.
After a year and half of visiting Weston every other weekend and making friends in this beautiful community, I moved my family to Weston. It had become apparent to me that it had become my home when I would arrive on a Friday afternoon for a weekend stay and my new friends would be eager to hear how I was doing. It was a far cry from my lonely cul-de-sac in Olathe, KS.
Over the past year and a half since I moved to Weston, I have learned the personal and business stories of many of my friends and neighbors here…some truly incredible stories. It has only deepened my desire to record and share these people and places.
This Substack journal is the first part of recording the life experiences of the people in Weston. The places are great. The people are even better.
So glad you came into this town! So glad you became part of my tribe!! Love you!
